Supervision and Membership Requirements

What are the supervision requirements?
Each members is required to have 12 hrs of supervision per their registered calendar year. 6 hrs must be 1:1 - - - the other 6 can be a combination of Group, Peer or 1:1

Does supervision have to come from CHA?
No not at all - In fact we advise that you switch up your supervision supervisors to keep the experience fresh. Each Supervisor has a unique way of running there sessions.
NOTE - If the supervisor you have is not on our list please let us know so we can reach out to them and add them.

What are the supervision requirements? Is supervision mandatory?
This requirement applies to individuals on the registered tier. Supervision is a vital component of CHA hypnotherapist membership criteria, serving both as a membership requirement and a mechanism for ensuring quality control for the benefit of the public. To maintain their registration, all practicing members must fulfill a minimum number of supervision hours.

  • Registered members, are obligated to complete a minimum of six one-on-one sessions with a Supervisor, with the remaining coming from group/peer sessions.

Does supervision have to be in person?
Supervision can be conducted either online or in person. It is essential to ensure that all records of supervision include details such as the date, duration, and type of supervision (whether individual, group, or peer). These records must bear the signature of your supervisor, peer group leader, or participant, and self-signatures are not acceptable.

Additionally, a signed letter from your supervisor is an acceptable alternative, provided it includes the aforementioned information. Emails are also acceptable, granted that they originate from the supervisor, encompass the required details, and are forwarded intact to the CHA team, clearly indicating the sender and the date.

20 Points of ongoing professional development or continual professional development …
During your registered calendar year you must complete 20 points of OPD/CPD points that are relevant to your career. CHA offers monthly meetups which grant 2 points for each session. We will send you a certificate of points granted at the end of each session for your tracking.
It is essential to ensure that all records of points include details such as the date, duration, and type of development. These records must bear the signature of your trainer/supervisor and self-signatures are not acceptable.

Membership Requirements -

  • Memberships will automatically renew on an annual basis, and we kindly ask you to email us your updated requirements. Rest assured, we will proactively reach out to you two weeks before the payment is due, providing ample time for you to submit your information.

  • Once you register we will reach out to you about your submission requirements

  • For those on REGISTERED tier - From the time membership has been approved, you will be required to do supervision - Specifics are above under What are the supervision requirements?

  • At renewal, you must provide evidence that you have attended the supervision sessions and development points per year  The evidence must include the date / type / duration and be signed by your supervisor/trainer.  This can be via email, letter, login portal or your supervision recording sheet (located for download inside the members area).
